We are Brandon & Jamie Swanson, a fun-loving husband and wife photography team.
Back in 2008 I (Jamie) started the photography business as “Jamie M Swanson Photography” while working a full-time corporate job as an actuary and Brandon was an incredible stay-at-home dad to our three energetic kids.
In 2009 Brandon began showing an interest in the sweet professional gear I was using and wanted to learn how it worked.
Little did we know, Brandon was stinking talented at photography. He took to it really well, right away, and he began shooting with me almost all of the time.
In 2010 we decided to officially add Brandon to the business and become a husband & wife photography team. We love it. It’s like a really hard working but fun date that we get to spend with each other.
Our name no longer fit, and we got tired of the “Does he work for you?” jokes, so we decided to rename our business. It’s been a long process, but we’re finally here! Lemon Tree Photographers was born, and we’re ridiculously excited to roll it out.
In June of 2011 I left my lucrative corporate job to do photography full-time. It’s been one of the most scary and rewarding things I’ve done in my life (besides having kids, of course!)
We always photograph our weddings together because it allows us to get better photojournalistic moments as one of us can be capturing the main events while the other one is capturing the reactions and emotions of your guests. We’re great with people and are skilled in bustling dresses, making “emergency” cigar runs, and other important wedding-related tasks.
We also enjoy photographing newborns and seniors but do a limited number of these sessions each year as our main focus is weddings.
When we’re not doing photography related stuff, you can find me blogging over at The Modern Tog, where I share my photography business secrets. I also love fruit pies (even more than cake!), gardening, and snuggling with my kiddos. I really appreciate good food, particularly Thai food. Mmm.
I have been known to ride a unicycle from time to time as well. But not while shooting weddings.
Brandon is an avid disc golfer and writer. He loves to run and is training to run an ultra-marathon. He’s skilled at juggling and making people feel welcomed. I also find him ridiculously hilarious, but he thinks my sense of humor is lame, so take it for what you will.
Together we dream of owning land where we can grow lots of food, have a disc golf course, and create a place where people can come to find rest.
Thanks! We look forward to hearing from you!
