Apple orchards are one of my favorite places to do engagement or wedding portraits. In fact, farms in general are the best, but Brandon & I dream of owning lots and lots of land one day so it’s just built into who we are.

Lauren & Nick are fortunate enough to have an orchard across the street from their house, so we visited them there to take their engagement photos. It was lovely, but I’ll let the images speak for themselves. So thankful to have such amazing clients who love beauty and nature and pick meaningful places for their engagement sessions.

It’s always an honor when another photographer hires you to take their photos. Cat, a photographer in Dubuque, IA, selected us to take her wedding photos and it was quite the wedding!

I don’t know if I’ve ever seen so much thought go into all the DIY details around the wedding. From wedding programs that doubled as fans for the guests, to Jones Sodas with personalized labels and all sorts of amazing things in-bewteen, you could tell that there were many hours spent putting together all the details of her day.

The day started at Hotel Julien Dubuque, which was full of lovely light and amazing decor for taking the getting ready photos. We later went to the warehouse district to take photos despite the fact that it had been flooded just a few days prior. The ceremony by the river at the Port of Dubuque was gorgeous. Finally we ended our day with the reception at The Meadows Golf Club.

We had the pleasure of photographing Kassy & Cory’s wedding this past week in Hubertus with their Lambeau Field wedding reception.

It was a super fun Packers-themed wedding, with a quick cameo appearance by a Vikings fan. ;)

I have to say that I was incredibly impressed by Lambeau Field as a wedding venue. Not only was everyone on their staff kind and accommodating, but the reception room was beautiful and the food was some of the best I’ve had all year (and oh how I love a good meal).

Kassy & Cory chose to have a Photo Booth at their reception, and it was a ridiculous amount of fun. I highly suggest them as people have a great time and you get lots of extra fun photos from it.

One of the most touching moments of the night was during the speeches when Cory’s friend gave a speech via video as he’s currently deployed defending our freedom and couldn’t be at the wedding. There was hardly a dry eye to be seen during this. So amazing.

The love and excitement surrounding Ben & Amanda’s wedding was contagious. It was impossible to not smile at the delight in Ben’s face every time he looked at his bride Amanda throughout their wedding day.

The wedding was held at Trinity Community Church in Brown Deer with gorgeous wedding portraits at Upper Lake Park in Port Washington. Their reception was held at Memories Ballroom in Port Washington.

I just have to give a shout-out to Amanda at Consider the Lilies – she’s the florist for the wedding, and I absolutely cannot recommend her highly enough. I’ve seen her flower arrangements at other events as well, and they are all amazing and unique.

Alyssa and Charlie know how to throw a rockin’ party of a wedding.

Seriously, this group of folks was a ton of fun, the DJ (a friend of theirs) was seriously the best DJ I’ve seen yet (and we’ve seen a lot) and everyone had a fabulous time.

I guess it shouldn’t be surprising, since Charlie is a member of the band Verona Grove.

I think everyone should take time on their big anniversaries, at least every 5 years, to have some beautiful photos done together.

Bob and Deb just celebrated 20 years of marriage, and I was honored to take photos for them at the American Club in Kohler, WI. Bob is a former colleague of mine from when I worked for InterVarsity, and it was a joy to spend a morning photographing them. It was truly a blessing for me, and I appreciated chatting over coffee after all the photography work was done. You guys are just the best.

Bob and Deb, we wish you many more anniversaries to come.

Once again we had some amazing entries for this year’s Free Wedding Photography Giveaway! As usual, it was hard for us to pick just one winning couple, but here they are!

One of the best lines was in the section about the proposal: “Chris was so nervous, he held the ring box upside down.” Love it! The proposal page ended with the families reactions and my favorite was AJ’s Grandma: “Well, jeez! It’s about time!” Ha!

AJ and Chris are getting married in Milwaukee next year (on Andy’s birthday actually!). It’s going to be a great time!

Jeni & Pete picked the perfect location for their beautiful outdoor garden wedding at the Dekoven Center in Racine. With portraits taken along Lake Michigan and their reception at the Marriott, it was one lovely location after the next.

The day was full of smiles as Jeni & Pete are incredibly fun-loving and were a joy to be around. They did a great job of incorporating some of the Armenian traditions from Pete’s family, and everyone seemed to enjoy the celebration immensely.

There aren’t a lot of Jewish weddings in this area, so I was super-stoked when Jess & Adam chose us to be their photographers for their gorgeous backyard wedding. They chose to mix their Jewish and Christian heritages into one interfaith ceremony and it was incredibly beautiful and well-done.

While we weren’t sure if the weather was going to hold out or if it was going to rain all day, it turned out to be perfect for the ceremony and portraits.

The yard was absolutely gorgeous, the Chuppah was made from wood from their family’s land and was breathtaking. The flowers around it were so beautiful.

The day was full of laughter, fun, and dancing. Thank you Jess & Adam, and we wish you many wonderful years together.

It’s that time of the year again! It’s time for the (now, 4th annual) 2012 Free Wedding Photography Giveaway! My good friend Andy Stenz is teaming up with us to give away a free day of wedding coverage to one lucky couple!

Why are you doing this?

We love photographing weddings and count it a blessing to participate in so many wedding day celebrations. We want to be able to give back some of that blessing by lending our time and talents to one couple.

What does the couple get?

Wedding coverage from Andy Stenz and Lemon Tree Photographers. We’ll be with you when you get ready right through to the reception where everyone lets loose (approximately 9 hours of coverage). We’ll then edit the photos and get them to you on disk, ready for printing. We’ll also upload the files to an online gallery that you can share with family and friends.

But wait… there’s more! ;-)

The great people at Details Planning are going to offer a choice of either 1/2 off their Divine or Distinction planning packages or $100 credit toward custom invitations. They did this for the winning couple last year and the couple LOVED the event planning Details did!

How will this work?

The couple, a family member or their friends submit the couple’s story via email to freewedding2012@andystenz.com. The stories will be read by us and our spouses. We will choose a couple and announce the lucky couple by October 30th. If you aren’t the couple submitting an entry, please confirm with them that they don’t already have a photographer before you enter them in the contest.

Are there any rules?

• The couple must be getting married in 2012 and not have already booked a photographer. The date must be open on both of our calendars (PLEASE NOTE: May, June and July dates are NOT available for the contest at this point due to our conflicting schedules). If we both aren’t available for your wedding, we’ll let you know right away.
• The wedding has to be in Wisconsin within approximately 75 miles of West Bend. Think mainly Madison to Green Bay to Milwaukee. If you’re not sure, submit it anyway, that’s just a rough guideline as we are based out of different cities ourselves.
• We can’t already know you (we don’t want to show favorites), and we can’t have already been in contact with you for a wedding next year.

What do I need to include in my submission?

• The bride and groom’s first and last names and their contact information.
• The couple’s story (this is HUGE!) – how they met, got engaged, and why they should be chosen for free wedding coverage – anything fun you want us to know about them.
• The wedding date and locations (of the ceremony, reception, etc – whatever may be known).
• A photo of the couple. This will be used on the blog post when we announce the final couple.

Where and when do I send my submission?

Email entry submissions and any questions you may have to freewedding2012@andystenz.com. Don’t forget, submissions are due by October 23rd, 2011 at midnight CST.

This is about the 5th time I’ve tried to start this post, and even now I struggle to put into words everything I want to say about Steven & Anna’s emotion-filled farm wedding.

We’ve known Steven & Anna for years, and we’ve looking forward to this day for a long time.

The day was filled with so much emotion, so much joy, and so many tears. It truly was a celebration of their love for each other and their commitment to marriage.

I have no doubts that they will be married many wonderful years together, and be one of those joyful, playful old couples that you see every so often.

It was truly an occasion to celebrate, and we were honored to be there as friends and as their photographers.

I have been looking forward to taking Kristi’s engagement photos for a long time. Kristi is my cousin, and we went out to our “home farm” (the farm that our ancestors settled on back in 1898 when they came over from Norway) to take them.

They were such good sports – they climbed the big hill, put up with having other family members there heckling them, and didn’t get mad at me when we made them cry.

Congratulations again, Kristi and Derek. So happy for you both, and can’t wait for the wedding.
